The Massage...

went to get a massage after work to get the kinks out from my wreck. It did NOT feel good! It was painful where I still have tight spots. Hope it gets better soon... have to use a heating pad on one spot.

Next Day...

My arms still hurt from the massage. I feel like someone punched me in the arms but can tell the massage worked out the kinks. I did put the heating pad on the one spot in my back & now it's not as sore.

My Computer has the Flu...

& is in the hospital! My computer got attacked by a bad virus (porn - nasty stuff!). While it's in the shop, I'm going to see about getting more memory put into it. My friend Sean Orr has it. He's the best in the Bastrop area (plus he's honest & fair!).

Merry Christmas...

6:30 AM...
just went to check to see if Santa came, guess I was naughty this year! :(

Had a GREAT Christmas Eve... cleaned house, shampooed the carpets. Spent the evening with all my children... dogs, cats, turtles & of coarse FB! =)

10:00 AM...
Just went to Mom & Dad's... think Santa might have stopped by over there... they have the chimney :) We are eating at 2 so if you are close, stop by... my dad always cooks TOO much!!!

Hope you have a very jolly Christmas & may all your sugar plum dreams come true! I will be traveling far this year for Christmas... all the way next door!

Preparing for Santa...

Worked this AM...
Home Alone (@the music company) inputting my song information, watching 4 dogs & Grand-dad... at least they put the music on before they left. ...Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree! Have a Happy Holiday...

Later...

just did a power clean on my house & shampooed the carpets, did some laundry & washed all the dishes, even changed the cat boxes & the sheets... house is pretty clean for Santa! ...waiting for Santa now.

Feeling Blah...

I think I am going on 2 weeks of not feeling well. I have the sinus/allergy junk & it's driving me nuts! It's affecting my voice, my throat hurts, my nose runs, I'm stuffed up, my head & ear hurt off & on. I'm just feeling yucky! I missed church last Sunday but forced myself to go to today, even though I still wasn't feeling well. I think it helps in the end but I wish I could just get over this stuff!

Homeless...

Today, our church went to hand out Bibles to the homeless in downtown Austin. We also handed out sack lunches & scarves. It seems like there were twice as many homeless than last year. It is a very touching & fulfilling task! Also, we noticed that more & more churches are beginning to reach out to the homeless in many ways. It's amazing the amount of work our community pours into our city. However, it is sad to see so many still suffering.

Charlie...

I got Charlie back today. I knew I was probably getting him, just wasn't sure when. He finally called me last night & we agreed for me to get him this AM. I didn't have to see Steve or deal with him when I went to pick up the dog. However, he didn't have any of his stuff together so now I will probably have to deal with getting the rest of his things later. Also, I'm having to deal with Steve calling me to check on Charlie. I really just want to go on with my life... enough is enough!

Happy Anniversary...

Today is my parent's 42nd Anniversary! I just wanted to say Happy Anniversary to 2-special parents. For some reason, God selected to put me in their lives. I hope that I have made them happy in every way that I can. I know I could do more for them at times, but I try with all I have at this time. We've had a hard 2 years but I think we are going to make it - some how!

Waiting...

At times, I feel like I'm growing old waiting to get on with my life! I'm not sure what rock the perfect guy is hiding under but I wish he would crawl out.

You see how this is totally me?! ~ see the dress, purse & hair hanging down the back?! Well, I'm tired of it being me & wish God would send the right guy to me... soon!

Interrupting the Honeymoon...

I'm pretty sure I disturbed his honeymoon when I texted him to ask if he was going to mail my payments soon. His response was to not look for it soon, he's broke (wasted all his money on getting married again). He goes on to tell me he's still not sure how this is justified, I got everything that was worth anything (I just didn't respond to that!). He goes on to reply: when did you become the breadwinner? As soon as I can I will get your payments to you. I responded by saying, thank you - that's all I was asking.

Some people NEVER change! No matter how hard they try to make themselves happy or work at, they are never happy with the choices they have made. When you screw up & don't go back & repair or face your mistakes, you will never be happy!

"Need You Now"...

Picture perfect memories scattered all around the floor
Reachin’ for the phone ‘cause I can’t fight it anymore
And I wonder if I ever cross your mind
For me it happens all the time
It’s a quarter after one I’m all alone And I need you now
Said I wouldn’t call But I’ve lost all control And I need you now
And I don’t know how I can do without
I just need you now
Another shot of whiskey,
can’t stop looking at the door Wishing you’d come sweeping in the way you did before And I wonder if I ever cross your mind
For me it happens all the time
It’s a quarter after one I’m a little drunk And I need you now
Said I wouldn’t call But I’ve lost all control And I need you now
And I don’t know how I can do without
I just need you now
Yes I’d rather hurt than feel nothing at all
It’s a quarter after one I’m all alone And I need you now
And I said I wouldn’t call, But I’m a little drunk And I need you now
And I don’t know how I can do without I just MORE?

Check Your Eye...

It amazes me at times how people are so worried about the spec in my eye when they have a big boulder hanging out of their own eye! Do you think as humans we pass judgement on each other too much?! Do you think that we are too worried about each other's business & not our own?! I absolutely hate when I'm trying to have a good time with my friends & someone is worrying about what I'm doing! I really want to say ~ check your own household & make sure all your peeps are in order before bugging me. Ok, nuff said... sorry, just venting.

And the Rain...

...came down, down, down! Today it rained buckets & buckets here. The creek was flowing in the back at the music company. It hasn't flowed like that in months! It was really neat to watch the ducks swim & have a good time in the water. It was NO fun trying to change the catboxes in the rain either. I just dumped the old litter in the trash can outside the door. Every time I would try to go outside it was raining again!

Better Off...

...a Memory, than My Man! Steve & I parted ways but we have spoken a couple of times in the past week. He has too many issues than I need in my life at this time. I was tired of the drama coming from all directions! All of what was going on was actually getting to be embarrassing, but I can't control what anyone else does. I am sad & will miss him & especially Charlie, but I know God has great things in store for me.

One of my favorite songs out right now goes something like ~
Be strong in the Lord, never give up hope.
You're going to do great things, I already know.
God has His hand on you, don't live your life in fear.

God has already blessed me SO much! He gave me a new car (well it's new to me!) & has kept me working to pay for it. Even though my hours keep getting changed around at my 2 jobs, they are both adapting to my schedule & working with me. I am still working 2 part time jobs: at the music publishing company & at the furniture plant (Swiftex). I love both of my jobs & wish I was at both of them more. If you are in the market for new upholstered furniture, check us out at www.swiftexfurniture.com.

It's the Big Day...

... but it's not my big day! I'm so happy that it's someone else's big day & that Scott will be someone else's problem & not mine. He married the woman that he started messing around with before I moved out. He has been more of a father to her kids than he was to his own daughter. He told this woman that he waited all his life to be with someone like her. I think it's funny because he told me the same thing. I feel numb but really, I'm relieved it's not me!

New Car...

I got the new car! I went home & did my research. The car was listed for $13k so I was going to ask for that price the next day. While I was getting ready to leave, a lady called me from GMAC finance company. Shortly there after, my salesman called me & said he thought they were going to be able to do it with NO problem. I said ok - I will be there in a little bit but had to run some errands first. I think he was more excited than me.

Early in the AM, I received a strange text that someone wanted me to call them ASAP. This person knew I needed another car & did not have any funds to make a good down payment. When I made the call, they said - this is between me, you & the Lord but I received some $'s in the mail & want you to have them for your car. I explained that I would know about the car either today or Monday that I went to look at. They told me that they were going to pray for the payment to be less than $300 a month.

When I got to the dealership, I had to wait & wait because my salesman was with someone else. I was able to get the keys & take it for another spin to double check how I felt driving it. I also stopped in a parking lot to look it up & down & inside & out ~ checking out every cubby hole. Us girls gotta know where to put our stuff! When the salesman was able to talk to me, he said let me get you in with our finance guy. I was like well - I wanted to talk about price. He just kept saying, we will work it out... cuz he already knew the great news!

I sat down & the finance guy was grinning SO big that I thought huh, do they think I'm going to pay $17k for this car. But the deal was, he had tried a couple of places to get financing & GMAC only wanted to give me a $10k loan & others wanted a big down payment too. He just kept on & found a credit union in Austin but it was still not enough of a loan. They decided due to my situation that they weren't going to ask me to try to find money I didn't have for a down payment, they were just going to sell me a car. The car price was $11K & they paid $25 for me to join this credit union AND my payments are under $300 (even if just a few dollars). This was everything this person that gave me the down payment $'s prayed for me that day! God really blessed me with this whole situation!!!

Car Search...

I kept debating on where to go find a car. I looked at Harbison Auto Sales but all their cars were either 2001 or 2002 with lots of miles that I was interested in. I then looked online at San Marcos Toyota & to this day, the salesman I called there has still not returned my call! Everyone kept telling me to stop by Benny Boyd Dodge on my way home from work. Well I went by after running my normal Friday errands & immediately met the nicest salesman. He was concerned about me & finding me the right car. I immediately fell in love with the Dodge Caliber. They had 4 on their used car lot. There was one '09, 2 - '08's & one '07. He told me straight up that I better try to get the '07 since it would be less money AND it only had 20,000 miles on it. I wasn't too happy when he told me it was $17k but I went on to test drive it & fell in love because it was so comfortable. I filled out all the credit information & have faith & go home & say a prayer & he would call me tomorrow about mid-morning. I am excited but was still planning to go to San Marcos tomorrow.

Vehicle is Totaled...

I got word today from the insurance that my van was totaled. It had over $10,000 worth of damage to it. I have to find a new car now. I'm praying for God's blessings on my search. I did have full coverage on my van so that will help pay it off. I also had GAP insurance so that will pay the balance of what is owed. I'm praying to find something with little or NO down payment, since I will have NO insurance $'s towards a new one & with all the repairs to my vehicle lately - I have no extra funds. Also, I need a car with a much lower monthly payment than the van. It was killing me each month to make the payment!

The Wreck

This evening I had a wreck on the way home from work. I rear-ended a man that slammed on the brakes as soon as the light turned yellow. Did I mention we were on Hwy 71 where the speed limit is 65!!!! The officer said he made an unsafe stop but it was still my fault. Thankfully, I was not cited for the accident. My airbags exploded & I had burns all over my arms & wrists. I was pretty shook up but was able to move my vehicle off the highway. I was slammed back in the seat pretty hard so I have aches & bruises all over but actually feel thankful. I do believe my van is totaled. I called home to get my parents to come but as soon as my dad found out I was alive & it was my fault, he hung up on me. It really upset my mom because she wanted to come. I was very blessed that my boss drove by & stopped to help me! He took me to try to get a rental car & then took me home since there were no cars available.

No Bible Study...

...again! We have missed Bible Study 3 weeks in a row now due to work schedules of both parties. Last week I was feeling blah. I think I was fighting a bladder infection but seem to be doing alot better now. I was really praying that I didn't have the swine flu - but couldn't remember eating any bacon... LOL! On the serious note, I have several friends that have had the swine flu or their family members. Steve's sister is getting over it now. I heard that everyone getting the flu now will most likely have the swine flu. Plus, if you do get the swine flu now - you will probably just have a mild case of it. I really hope this has just about run it's coarse! I can't imagine being sick for a week... I think I would go stir crazy!

What a Beautiful Day...

...after all that rain yesterday! I think it rained 2-3" here. There was standing water in the yards & water on the roads. It was running everywhere as fast as it could but seemed like it was all going no where. Poor Steve worked in the rain all day & was soaked a couple of times. He said at one point he was really cold from the rain. Well, the cold front did blow in with the rain. I love the cold weather... it reminds me of snowmen, my favorite thing!

Big Gulp...

Yesterday I stopped to get a BIG iced drink on the way to Austin. I was reminded of Big Gulps from 7-Eleven when I was a teenager. They used to be 49, then 59 cents. It was a treat to get to go get a Big Gulp. I vividly remember going to 7-Eleven when Hurricane Alicia hit in about 1983 or 84 and we did not have power for several days. We would get to ride in the a/c to the store & then get our Big Gulp. Awe - it was soothing! For those of you who have lived in the Houston area, you know that a/c is a necessity because you need it about 10-12 months out of the year!

Now you can hardly find a 7-Eleven. I know there are just a few left in Austin and one in Smithville & Temple that we stop at now & then. After 7-Eleven went by the way, it was Stop N Go... I remember my childhood friend, Rhonda & I going to get a big iced drink there after we were grown. It was only about 89 cents at the time. Now try to buy an iced drink for less than a $ - it's rare but they are out there still. =D

Half-Year Statements..

We send out royalty checks to the song writers twice a year at the Music Company. This week was the week that they go out (9/30). We worked hard & nonstop getting out the statements & checks. I worked all day on the 30th & did not go to the plant to get most of the work done. Even though it is alot of stress, we have fun getting it done (well I stay focused to finish). I think my boss was SO excited when I left today b/c all the statements were out, even the no money ones. It was great for my hours!

Sticks & Stones...

When we were kids we used to say this stupid, smart alec saying...
Sticks & Stones may break my bones,
But words will never hurt me!

I think we learned that really early to learn that people would say alot of things to hurt us through the years. As for me, I'm sick of being told I'm fat, being threatened & all the hurtful lies being told to me. Lately, I've been being told SO many lies about Scott.

Honestly, I do not want to hear about Scott - he is a part of my past that I'm trying to get over. I know when they are lies because even though we were separated for almost a year, I still knew what he was doing. As a matter of fact, I still know what he is doing... LOL. I also know that he is marrying his gold-digger on 11/11 in Austin. But the real truth is, I don't care!!! I'm just glad it's not me because he will eventually change & be abusive & cheat on her too.

I'm sick of being told how we've hung on to our little family all these years... what family???!!! Can you show me??? because my family went out the door when I was about 7 or 17. A real family does not threaten their daughter, put her down in front of people every chance they get, nor treat her partner like dirt. And YES, this was done with EVERY boyfriend I ever had, then Scott & now Steve. They help, help, help... and I have to hear about how they do NOTHING!!! They are not with me to be a personal slave to my family. However, I always found it VERY interesting that ALL of the guys in my life would jump & help my mom when she asked, maybe it's because she said thank you!... amazing, show someone some kindness & they might want to be with you or do things for you! But when they work on trucks, do glass work or major brake jobs on trucks, unload feed & hay, fix sewer pipes & electrical stuff, replace bathroom tile and spend all weekend helping fixing up the house to sell it, help hang gates & do fence work... then hear that they NEVER do anything for your parents... why would they EVER want to do anything EVER again???!!!

Rainy Day...

I am lovin' the rain! We desperately need it in our part of Central Texas. Of coarse, you have to deal with being sleepy but it's great to see the rain. I would love to have a tall coffee about now.

It is difficult driving in the rain without a/c. I am running my defroster on the mirrors & back window but it's not enough. The waiting period to use my new warranty policy is up today but I have to have the $100 for the deductible. With all the repairs lately, that will not come soon.

Thankful for Friends...

My longtime Houston friend, Kimberly, posted the following on her Facebook...
What's sad is that when someone dies everyone will write or "blog" about that person.. never thinking that it might be better to say something to that person before they pass... So.. if anyone out there wants to know what I think or feel about them just ask... I would rather you know now when your here than to have never have heard it at all...
So I asked her... Wonder what you would say about me?
Her response was... I think that you have a good outlook on life and you do not play the victim. I believe that you are a good person and you are a true believer in God. I know that you were a good wife and a good step-mother and that the two people in your life you trusted were not so nice to you. I think that God has a special need for you and that you will always ... Read More, seek Him out in your times of trouble. You were a good friend to me and always had a shoulder for me when I needed someone to talk to. You kept me going when I needed a friend when we got the kids and you helped me see that they needed a "mom" not a step-mom. You are a forgiving person and will be the one to turn the other cheek and pray for someone who has wronged you. You do not judge anyone and you are the first to help the troubled or the weak and you will give your all to something you believe in.
Now this is all I remembered about you from years ago but I believe that you are still the same person from before.

I'm thankful for Good Friends & that someone had a nice word to say to me today!

Lovin' the Rain...

It has actually rained for a few days now & not been in the 100's. I'm dealing with the rain pretty well for not having a/c in the car still. The cooler temperatures are definitely helping! I should be getting it fixed in about 2 weeks, but will just need the $100 deductible to be able to put it in the shop.

Car Trouble AGAIN...

My warning lights started coming on inside on Sunday afternoon. I took the van on Monday, which was Labor Day, to have the battery & alternator tested. I do believe that the testers at the auto parts stores are worthless. They said they were both fine! Tuesday after all the drama at our house in the AM, leaving the van to have the oil changed & tires rotated while we went to a funeral... I went to work for a little bit & on the way home, stopped at the repair shop for them to look at it. It was the alternator (AGAIN!). I had to leave it for a couple of days. Never, ever buy an alternator from Advanced Auto Parts - the one I got here a couple of months ago was bad. I had to pay another $300+ but it's running lots better! (still no a/c yet)

Don't Join Them, Beat Them...

I saw this & thought I would share it... Some people say "If you can't beat them, join them". I say "If you can't beat them, beat them", because they will be expecting you to join them, so you will have the element of surprise.

Standards...

I know that we are living in the last days. At times, it is hard to live 'apart' from the world & not be 'of' the world. However, there is a reason I was raised with the standards I was raised with by my parents. The Bible says... "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord." Hebrews 12:14 Therefore if I do not keep my holiness standards, I will not see God. I cannot compromise my witness because I do not want to hear strong preaching or live a strict life.

The word of God is the same yesterday, today & forever! If the standards were there 20-40 years ago, they should be there today. In my opinion, Pentecostals have been persecuted a long time for their standards. However, they were present in the Bible so they have been around for a LONG time. Many people think we are being judgemental because we will not compromise. Call us judgemental if you want, but we follow the Word! It's about what God says, not what man says. Try turning off your TV for just one evening & reading your Bible - it doesn't matter where you start, just let it fall open. I believe you will be touched & want more and more.

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

Facebook...

Have you checked out facebook.com? It's the new thing to stay in touch! I would probably see you & chat with you more if you were there. Give it a try... it's not hard & you don't have to check several times a day but many do... LOL. Just try it & you might like it... you will also find me there!

The Party...

The food was great & the friends were there. My dad made steak, baked potatoes, salad, his famous cheese bread. Then there was cake & ice cream! It was very low key & nice to catch up on things with friends. Our friend had recently lost her mother so it was very comforting to her for us to have the party.

After the party, someone blew their lid & I had to put up with a major attitude until after 1 AM. I was SO tired on Sunday & did not feel well. I was congested & could not keep my eyes open. I rested all day!

True Friends & Good People...

I have still been hurt over the loss of a friendship... well maybe they weren't really my friend since it was easily lost. I have said before that there are good people & then there are people who think they are good people. You don't have to brag about being a good person & make sure everyone knows what you have done... it just shows! It is sort of like we learned in Bible Study last night, you know them by their fruits! (Thanks for teaching... it helped!)

Recently, I read a blog entry on FB where a little girl made the following comment to her mom... is it true that friends help friends? And we wait for them too? And if they're scared we make them feel better? A friend responded to the comment... That's how friends are supposed to be. Unfortunately, I know some adults who claim to be friends, aren't there when you need them or when the promise they will be. Maybe this will rub off on some of them!

I'm Excited...

We are having a BIG BBQ/Birthday Party for a VERY special lady on Saturday evening! Dad will use any excuse to cook & celebrate... LOL! Last night Steve & I worked outside to get things cleaned up & Steve weed-eated. He's such a good trimmer! The yard looks nice (except for ALL the dry spots from the 60+ days of 100+ temps). Now we need to get a baby pool to put our feet in at the party when we sit outside. =) I think I'm going to make it a luau party b/c I have the pretty flowers, etc for us all to wear. It will be SO fun & my dad will cook us LOTS of grub! mmmm... good! I have to get the cake & ice cream - but that is NO problem!

Strange Situation...

They hired a new person at the plant today. This person does not know me by face & maybe not by name... but I know him TOO well! What do you do when a friend's (really she is my mom's best friend but my friend too) soon to be EX is hired at your job?! I know all the dirty things he has done to his family through the years & how he has treated them for the past 35+ years.

Now don't get me wrong, he's a great guy! He is very polite & probably one of the best candidates for the job BUT... I can't agree with his morals, etc. I guess I will do what my mom always taught me to do... just kill him with kindness!

Where in the World is SHAWN?!...

I bet you guys are wondering what happened to me huh?!... Well have you looked on Facebook for me? It is the new, hot thing on the internet SO get up to speed & get a FB account to keep up with me, your family & friends.

Circus...

Steve & I went to the Ringling Bros. Circus tonight. Steve had never been to a Circus in his whole life! He really enjoyed the tigers but they don't do as much with them anymore. He thought the elephant parade was cute too! We had SO much fun... I'm hoping some of the pictures we took will come out & I can post them. The Show has changed to more of a semi-broadway production but it was good!

TGIF...

I am SO glad it is Friday! I am really tired today. I didn't sleep much or very well last night. I had to be at the plant at 8 this AM & punched in at 8:09. Whew... what a week! I will be glad to get home & get some rest, even my feet hurt. I need a nap & some quiet time, which I hope to get when I get home.

We have our ground-breaking service on Sunday at our new property. I can't wait! It's so exciting to see what God is doing in our church. We had such a great move of God last night at church. God is SO good & does so many amazing things.

The Slow Move...

The move is going very slow. I think he gathered a lot of his stuff yesterday, but only moved about 1/3 of it. I've asked him several times, nicely, to please move today. It's just too much for me!

Now he has been talking to his sister on the phone EVERY night for about 1-2 hours until midnight or so. Last night she was paranoid that she saw her ex-boyfriend, who is supposed to be in Las Vegas, out on her road. Then, the car took off & was driving 80 mph & cutting down different roads to get away from her. Well - duh!!! Why was she following a car of someone she didn't know?!

He says I'm acting like his mother if I ask him to pick up his socks & shoes, which he just throws in the floor wherever he takes them off. It's just drama every day & night. I'm SO tired this week & really wish I could just get some rest. I will have to clean house once all of this is over & get rid of the mess! I don't need the attitude or to babysit a grown person.

LATER...

The move was COMPLETED this evening! I got ALL my keys back (which made him mad). I'm not sure he gets it... how many times can you poop in my hat & think it will hold more poop?! I went to church to celebrate & then to visit Ronald with my friends after church. I had a GREAT time worshiping the Lord & visiting with friends!

What to Do?...

Well things are bumping along for me. No real big changes! I'm just wondering what to do about this guy in my life. He has SO many issues & really needs God to deliver, heal & work wonders in his life. It seems we are on a day to day basis.

He's a GREAT guy, but he's battling SO much at times that it's hard for him to see life clearly or even to see me right next to him. What do you do when you have someone great that needs SO much 'tweaking'? I know: #1 - pray for him... thanks!... that is exactly what I was thinking too. Have a blessed day! =)

Too Cute...

Pumpkin likes to lay/sleep in the rocker with the stuffed bunnies. I guess they offer cushioning & companionship ~ LOL! He tends to occasionally drop a few on the floor. This afternoon I picked up the ones that were on the floor & set them back on the rocker in front of him. Afterward, he popped his head up like he was hiding amongst them. I thought it was too cute to miss the photo & share.

More Drama...

There is MORE drama & not enough relief from it! Today is the day that things are going to change... and change there will be. I can't deal with the lies or the secrets anymore. If there is a relationship, it would be between the two of us & not everyone else. However, I have come to the conclusion that there will always be a third person giving directions & being the mother hen of his life. It's sad when you care for someone but they do not want the care or direction from someone they say is important to them. It's all a front & enough is enough!

Prayer & Fasting...

After these episodes, I've decided that I need to pray & fast MORE!!! All of this is driving me nuts & I'm tired of it. I love my family & Steve a lot & it seems like things are just worse. I just need to cry on God's shoulder & let him listen to me for a while. I'm in need of some prayers being answered & I can't look to man for help ~ man doesn't have the answers... only God does.

Weekend...

The weekend was great! We did _________... well, nothing really. We went to church on Sunday & that's the biggest thing I can remember. I was doing laundry on Saturday evening & pulled something in my hip area. It was hurting & hurting. I had to stop doing laundry & just do what I could. I think it's better now.

Well, Steve's sister continues to try to be in our business. I thought she was talking to me out of concern for us... wrong!!! I think she's either trying to break us up or keeping the drama going. I'm getting sick of everyone butting in... it's me & Steve.

The Aftermath...

Steve & I realize alot of stuff was said to all the wrong people & out of anger. Now alot of apologies are flying all over the place AND people are still stirring up trouble for us. Someone who WAS my SO called friend has gone & started alot of gossip so now it's just causing more anger & talk. Mainly it's involving people that don't need to be involved. I'm sorry if you were involved in any of our situation & drug into it this weekend.

Who to Trust...

After the HUGE blow up this weekend, there are still lots of rumors flying all around. Steve has lots of issues in life & went to someone else to talk about 'life' instead of me. When you try to have a female friend on the side, one thing leads to another. He has problems with staying put in life too. He is constantly looking for the greener pasture. We basically break up on Friday night and make-up on Saturday. I'm still a wreck from it all!!!

He was supposed to move in with my parents on Saturday BUT... while we were cleaning out the room (which was still a wreck from my grandfather living there, the crazy lady & us moving stuff in there to make room for my mom's hospital bed)... my dad (who was not feeling well & very sick) gets up from his nap & blows up (mostly at me). Well, Steve did not like all the yelling, cursing, etc. (not like he can't throw his own fits) so he decided that under a bridge would be better (playing on my emotions). For now, he's staying put & trying very hard to work things out.

I know God is in control of my life but golly - what's up with all this?!

Feeling Hurt...

It was SO hard to wake up this AM & have to face anyone after last night. I told Steve that last night I felt like Lorrie Morgan trying to save Keith Whitley from himself (if you haven't read her book - you should, it might help you in life!). I cannot control any one's actions or stupidity BUT I will help them as much as I can to stay on track & be there for them.

Also, I was still hurt about my friend not supporting me & thinking Steve's actions were fine with this woman (who used to be her friend). Plus trying to deal with helping Steve move next door (big blow up - read next blog). I was really feeling used & abused!

My jobs at the plant & the music company have become more & more demanding because of situations in their personal lives. They both want me as much as they can have me but there is only one of me (LOL - maybe I should clone myself). I really need to work these 2 jobs the most because they are where I make the most $'s.

Steve & I go to Go Figure to pick up my mom from work. Kathy pops off with a rude comment about me leaving a note with the hours I can work on her desk. Well for weeks I've been trying to talk to her BUT she absolutely will not talk to me very much & is rude to me. She totally misunderstood our conversation about me working only certain days last week. In the end, it basically came out (in front of my mom & Steve - with my mom doing 1/2 of the talking) that I will be working my other 2-jobs for now & won't be at Go Figure for a while. She was mad because she is leaving for 5 weeks & needs people to cover the office. I'm sorry - why do you wait until the VERY last minute to make sure your i's are dotted & your t's are crossed?! Honestly, it was like a HUGE weight was lifted off of me. Thank you ALL for praying about my job situation.

Honesty & Cheating...

I knew something dishonest was going on for at least a week & sure enough... Steve was spending time with someone who HAD been my so called friend. This so called friend said she was doing what God told her to do - be a friend (yeah right! that was straight from the pits of hell). I told her that she was cheating with another woman's man.

Steve wasn't being honest about where he was going & what he was doing. I've tried to explain to him that he may have NEVER done anything with this woman, but when you are dishonest about where you are going, it all comes back to bite you in the end.

Today, I tried to talk to someone who I thought was my friend & close to me. I find out that not only is she NOT truly my friend but she has messed up morals & values. I know that many have agreed with me on the above issue. And that when you are committed to someone, hanging out with someone else is not right (at least in God's eyes or any other person with morals). However, when someone is saying that it is fine... they are just friends & I'm trying to talk to this person & say NO there is more - it really makes you wonder what they might have to do with the situation.

Now I'm upset because not only is Steve somewhere he shouldn't be, but my friend is not supporting me! In the end... yes, I should have NEVER said anything to this friend. She doesn't have the 'true' spirit of God in her & is seeing things through the eyes of the world (sin). Oh - forgot to mention... I scratched this person off the friend list as well!

~*AWESOME*~

Church was so Awesome today! I watched people be healed, saved & touched by God. I believe that God gave me SO much revelation today. He has great things in store for my life & I just have to get over some humps to get to them.

I received this email today... God is already working!
"Sis. Carolyn received the results today from her biopsies and medical tests. She does not have cancer! Please join Sis. Carolyn in thanking and praising God for His healing touch. Thank God for the good report that she received."

This lady sits in my group of friends. She is battling 3 different things in her body. She has a cyst the size of a grapefruit on her ovary. We were concerned it was cancer. Our prayers were answered & God performed a miracle!

The Phone Call...

I talked to Scott this afternoon for about 30 minutes. It was a good talk but many of you are right, he is going to hit rock bottom before he realizes what he did in life. He isn't working but about 1/2 the hours he was working before so he is hurting money wise. We talked about his cat dying. He was very upset (he should have kept him). We talked about Katie & he told me why he thought she was mad at him. I guess he doesn't TRULY get it!!! In the end, it was very civil bye & take care.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY...

I want to wish a Happy Birthday to someone very special in my life... Steve. We had a BBQ/Birthday Party for him on Saturday evening with lots of friends, food & fun. I will add the pic of his cake later.

I hope you have a Wonderful Day! May God richly bless you this year.

Being Positive...

I only worked at Go Figure! one day last week (Monday) because I worked the afternoons & all day Friday at the plant due to my neighbor's situation. When I went back to Go Figure! today, I realized just how much negativity I was being fed from there... sad but true! It amazes me how people think they are really happy, upbeat people but can grind on people & bring them down to a negative state. It was so good being at the plant AND feeling needed & most of all appreciated. It's important that you be told thank you & I appreciate you!!! If you own a business or ever do, be sure to tell your employees THANK YOU! It's important to them. My boss at the music company tells me thank you every week when he hands me my paycheck. The first time he did it, I was actually taken aback because I had been fed so much negativity.

Saying Goodbye...

As you may recall, I wound up with every single animal that we had in the divorce (except the wild cats outside that have pretty much vanished). Before I moved, Bart (which is the cat Scott raised from a tiny baby & that lived in his truck when he drove a big truck) had started going down hill & was craving Scott's attention... but he was too busy doing things that didn't concern his family.

Bart (AKA Lil' Buddy) passed away early this AM. He had really lost alot of weight & gone way down. It was very hard to even pet him anymore because he was so boney. I still remember some of the crazy times we had with him in the truck. He used to sleep in the sun on the dash for hours & enjoy the ride. When he would get tired, he would go back to the sleeper & put himself to bed. At times, he could be a pretty good alarm clock too. He would start trying to get Scott up when all the other trucks would leave out of the truck stop. It was his way of saying, we gotta go!

GooD DaY but No A/C...

I worked at Swiftex (the plant) all day on Friday. I almost forgot how warm it could get in there but it was still good to be there & great to see the few workers left. There were only 4 of us each day b/c one is on vacation, my neighbor was with her husband at the hospital & the owner didn't come any of the days I was there.

I got a little help in the afternoon. Thomas, one of my friend's 12 year old son, came to the plant & helped me for a few hours. He is such a joy to be around & a true blessing for help. We moved furniture (he helped the guy there), filled the coke machine (Thomas LOVED that!) & hung out in the office.

Later my whole family went to eat Mexican food @ Jalisco's in Cedar Creek. Great Place!!! We always enjoy it there. We had to take Thomas home & run by Steve's work. Almost as soon as we leave the restaurant, the a/c starts blowing hot air in the van. The a/c compressor is out!... so no cold air. =( Did I mention it's hot?! Now I have to get a new compressor (about $200 or at least $150) AND pay the shop to replace it (need to call to get a price on that).

Surprise Friday Phone Call...

My mom received a very interesting call today. Scott called to talk to her. He said that work had slowed way down for them, which means less hours. He said that Lufkin is sending him to North Dakota for 3 months to work there. He was going to come by & see my mom that day but had to go to his Grandpa's to do a bunch of fence work & ran out of time. He also mentioned that he had been thinking about my mom for a while & wanted to call but hadn't had a chance.

He told her that he had been going to church at the Methodist Church in Bastrop, but after being Pentecostal for 15 years... it just wasn't the same. My mom told him that once you know about it, you can't go back. The real shocker is that he asked about me & wanted to know how I was doing.

Good Ol' Dad...

We didn't have church Thursday evening, because they were working on the sanctuary & putting all the pews back in after replacing the tile & carpet in the church we are renting (it looks nice now). I guess Steve & my dad got to talking about my a/c not blowing very cold air so they went to Walmart & bought freon to charge it. It was great! Thanks to my dad for buying me freon.

To the Shop...

I had a guy look at the van on Monday that does car repairs on the side. We were all thinking - alternator, not a MAJOR job... WRONG! He said no b/c he didn't have time & really didn't want to get that involved in the car. It was going to be one evening to take it apart & another to get the alternator off & new one on, then another to put it back together. I called another side mechanic & the first thing out of his mouth after asking what kind of car it was... Oh, the BEAST!

I knew then that I better get it to a good shop & it wasn't going to be the dealer for $400 for just labor. I called Bastrop Auto Works, who is known around town for being pretty good, Katie went to school with their younger son (who was full of manners) & they go to my mom's church. SO I figured good people - go for it! I called the guy & he said he would do it... COOL, now just go get it & drive it with no a/c again.

I put it in the shop Monday evening & knew it might be a couple of days but that is life. I was right. I got it back this evening... but hey, I could listen to the radio & run the a/c that wasn't blowing very cold.

Job Call...

I have made mention that my neighbor, Ernie Roberts has been in the hospital for due to a brain lesion. Well his wife was my coworker at Swiftex & they live across the street a couple of houses (properties) before our place.

She called me on Tuesday & asked if I could come & help her at the plant since her husband was in the hospital. I worked there Wednesday & Thursday afternoon & all day Friday. It was great! I actually needed the work & extra $'s since my van was being repaired.

Please continue to pray for Ernie.

MoNdAy...

Wow - what a way to start a Monday... my van is broken down & it's super-duper hot! I had to drive it with the a/c OFF... but that's ok cuz hopefully it will get fixed today. It gets worse ~ I'm not to my 2nd job yet & my coworker calls & says that front a/c is out (just blowing hot air). It's the main a/c for most of the office. We have a small unit in the back for the back office, which is not a big area. I feel sorry for the guys that have to work outside (Steve being one of them)... it's really hot this year. The guys are replacing the a/c right now & just asked me if I'm hot ~ I told them, yeah - you're making me sweat my fat off... LOL. Come on - that's a good one!

Car Trouble...

Nothing like trying to get home from Austin & the radio cutting out & the charge lights coming on. We tried to go to town today & the same thing - the charge lights came on, so we whipped into the auto parts & they tested the alternator. Guess what, I was right all along (I've known it was going out for a couple of months)... it is the alternator. We ordered it & it is $150, PLUS a $50 core charge so the initial charge will be $200. I'm hoping Steve can fix it!

Urgent Prayer Request...

I got a call Tuesday evening that my neighbor, Ernie (whose wife I worked with at the plant)was rushed to the hospital after his daughter found him unresponsive when she came home in the afternoon. The next report I had was that his blood sugar was high & he was in a diabetic coma (he only knew he had high blood pressure). Then, I heard he had a lesion on his brain & an infection that they were treating with meds & keeping him heavily sedated. Today, I finally broke down & called the neighbor down the road that lives across the street from his wife's parents. He has a tumor on his brain & at this time things look bad. All we can do is pray for God to have His hand on him & heal him. Please say a prayer for him & his family during this time.

Staying Connected...

Have you found me on the web? I finally broke down this week & got Facebook, along with the MySpace I already have. I started finding old school friends that I have wondered where they went & what they are doing now. It's been fun! I still think Twitter is STUPID & a waste of time so DON'T look for me there.

GOD's Timing...

He's never early but He's never late! As I mentioned before, the music company wanted to use me a few more hours a week. Well I finally asked this AM if the lady had talked to her husband & sure enough, he had said ok. So now I'm working Mon - Thurs AM @ the music co. & afternoons at Go Figure! Well it came just in time too. On Tuesday afternoon while at Go Figure, Kathy said I need you to start covering the afternoon & evening shifts. The reason why is she's leaving town in a week & needs to make sure the office is covered & 2 - the other girl has become undependable. I am always there for my shifts AND have always worked extra hours & days when asked. Even though Kathy cut my hours on Friday & we are closing an hour earlier on 3 days (she doesn't want me going in until noon on Friday, instead of 9)... It's ok - God worked it out in the end b/c I make more $'s at the music co.

Catch Up...

I've been working & Steve has been working everyday also. Monday he got a weed-eater from his boss. He went out last night & was cutting all the weeds around the house & here & there outside. I think Charlie is sad staying home alone all day but so far he is being good. He is crazy about Steve & even gets sad when he leaves in the AM.

I'm still dealing with lots of negativity at my job. The guy that wants me to work for him is still very interested & is trying to build his business to be able to afford me. I think it's all in due time. I've decided to do the best that I can do right now & just ignore the negativity right now. I also need to talk to the music company again & see if they still want me to work more hours. It will definitely help with my income & will help keep me away from the negativity at my other job.

Saturday evening, my dad is having a belated birthday party/BBQ for himself. If you are able, come by & enjoy some good food & fellowship. Call me if you need directions!

OnE YeaR MarK...

Today marks one year ago that we found out that my mom has cancer. She says that she is blessed & happy God has allowed her to continue to be here with all of us! She's had some bumpy times but all in all ~ she's doing remarkably well. As you can see from her cancer markers, her cancer is being shut down. She asks for prayer for a new right hip (however God wants to work it out) so she can be more mobile on her own. She gets around pretty well (with powered wheels ~ watch out cuz she might run over you!). She & my dad have their little ways of taking care of each other. He takes care of her & she tries to look after him. Sometimes he's really hard headed & stubborn & won't listen to her. Thanks for all your thoughts & prayers over the past year!

Confusion...

I started praying for God to bring us work & help with our finances AND it's coming but not sure what direction to take yet. Now the music company wants me 20 hours a week, which would mean one more day. The guy that I was supposed to do part-time work for on the side... he wants me about the same amount of hours a week too! So now I'm torn... where does that leave me with Kathy @ Go Figure!?... do I give up my job there after the way I have been treated? or do I continue to work part-time there?

Steve still needs a job but he has been working odd jobs alot. He is working a day or two every week for Kathy's husband doing this & that but he needs that REAL job. He is still going through the program to be able to go to school for a trade. The schooling is free through this program & they will help him find a job in the end.

I know confusion is NOT of God but we are all human & when you are in this type of situation ~ you do wonder what to do next!

Thankful...

Steve has been being productive to bring in income everyday. He was offered a side job working for Kathy's husband. He drives to Austin & picks up parts that have been ordered for his company. Tuesday - he picked up parts, Wednesday - he donated, Thursday - he's picking up parts again and Friday - will donate again. He already has an odd job lined up for next week too.

Making a Difference...

Following is something I have wanted to post for a while...

"ONE person can make a difference. My attitudes. What I say or don't say. It has to begin with me." How can you find hope in this perspective, even when the circumstances are so huge? Apply this statement to yourself: what needs to begin with you?

God can use you & He will use you! You just have to submit to Him & follow after Him to start making a difference. Whether the difference is in your family, your job, your church or in another situation. One person CAN make a difference through prayer, fasting & their own attitude.

My Crazy Job...

As many of you know... I have more than one job! When I worked at the furniture manufacturing plant (Swiftex), Go Figure! (Kathy's Place) was my 2nd job. Since I was laid off from the plant in December, Go Figure! has been my primary job.

Some of you may know that I've been feeling frustrated & like my season is over at Go Figure! I'm tired of feeling like the a whipping post & being blamed for alot of what goes wrong there. I am really tired of the disorganization, cofusion & over all chaos there.

I am a happy, smiley person that tries to find a way to laugh about everything. When you are fed so much negativity, you do not feel so happy. Even Steve & my mom have told me lately that I need to smile more & have a better attitude.

I already have a great deal for a job in the works right now. It is for a man that I have known for about 5+ years & that believes in God. He needs someone to do accounting & other office work for the company he has now. He also has another company that has been on hold for a while but he would like to get it rolling again.

Please pray for God's will to be done for my job situations & for Him to lead me. Also, please for Steve to get a job soon ~ at least a part-time one. He has helped my mom & dad & would like to continue to be there for them.

Feeling Better...

I'm feeling much better! I still have a little congestion, a cough & drainage but I'm doing better. I've been told I have Swine Allergies, the Pig Flu and so on (what else are friends for?!). However, Steve is now suffering from it all ~ guess he has the Swine Allergies now.

Have a Great Day!

MyHotComments.com
I hope everyone had a good day! We went to church & of coarse they honored the mothers & our pastor's wife. After church we met mom & dad to eat in Bastrop. It was nice to spend time with my special mom. She is truly my angel & my hero! I love her & am glad God gave me to her. Also, I am glad God has allowed us another year to be together.

Reuniting...

Yesterday I received a phone call out of the blue! It was my childhood friend Rhonda that I hadn't talked to in 4 Years because of dufus. He contacted her on Facebook & wanted to add her as a friend... now why would she want to be his friend?!... Especially after he acted so ignorant the last couple of times we saw her. She called me & needless to say we are catching up & she's happy that I'm on with life (without him).

Well, this was actually his 2nd attempt to contact old friends. Last week he called Nick to chit-chat. Nick asked him why he was calling him & being nice after all the crap he talked about him & the rumors he spread.

Makes you wonder... is the guy trying to find out what I'm up to or does he realize he made a mistake?! Why in the world would he think that people want to be his friend after all that he did?! He's really out there!!!

Dealing With Difficult People..

After ALL the drama this weekend & being targeted as the whipping post @ work... I had to look up this info & read it for myself so I thought I would share it with you too.

Can you recall the last time you had to deal with a negative or difficult person? Or the last time someone said something with the intention of hurting you? How did you handle it? What was the result? What can you do in the future to get through these situations with peace and grace?

No matter where we go, we will face people who are negative, people who oppose our ideas, people who piss us off or people who simply do not like us. There are 6.4 billion people out there and conflict is a fact of life. This fact isn’t the cause of conflict but it is the trigger to our emotions and our emotions are what drive us back to our most basic survival instinct; react and attack back to defend ourselves.

In these instinctual moments, we may lose track of our higher selves and become the human animal with an urge to protect ourselves when attacked. This too is natural. However, we are the only animal blessed with intelligence and having the ability to control our responses. So how can we do that?

I regularly get asked “How do you deal with the negative comments about your articles? They are brutal. I don’t think I could handle them.” My answer is simple, “I don’t let it bother me to begin with.” It wasn’t always this simple, and took me some time before overcoming this natural urgency to protect myself and attack back.

I know it’s not easy, if it was easy, there wouldn’t be difficult or negative people to begin with.

Why Bother Controlling Our Responses?
Hurting Ourselves - One of my favorite sayings is “Holding a grudge against someone is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.” The only person we hurt is ourselves. When we react to negativity, we are disturbing our inner space and mentally creating pain within ourselves.
It’s Not About You, It’s About Them - I’ve learned that when people initiate negativity, it is a reflection of their inner state expressed externally and you just happen to be in front of that expression. It’s not personal, so why do we take it personally? In short: Because our ego likes problems and conflict. People are often so bored and unhappy with their own lives that they want to take others down with them. There have been many times when a random person has left a purposefully hurtful comment on TSN, and regularly checked back to see if anyone else responded to their comment, waiting eagerly to respond with more negativity.
Battle of the Ego - When we respond impulsively, it is a natural and honest response. However, is it the smart thing to do? What can be resolved by doing so? The answer: Nothing. It does however feed our ego’s need for conflict. Have you noticed that when we fight back, it feels really satisfying in our heads? But it doesn’t feel very good in our soul? Our stomach becomes tight, and we start having violent thoughts? When we do respond irrationally, it turns the conversation from a one-sided negative expression into a battle of two egos. It becomes an unnecessary and unproductive battle for Who is Right?
Anger Feeds Anger. Negativity Feeds Negativity. - Rarely can any good come out of reacting against someone who is in a negative state. It will only trigger anger and an additional reactive response from that person. If we do respond impulsively, we’ll have invested energy in the defending of ourselves and we’ll feel more psychologically compelled to defend ourselves going forward. Have you noticed that the angrier our thoughts become, the angrier we become? It’s a negative downward spiral.
Waste of Energy - Where attention goes, energy flows. What we focus on tends to expand itself. Since we can only focus on one thing at a time, energy spent on negativity is energy that could have been spent on our personal wellbeing.
Negativity Spreads - I’ve found that once I allow negativity in one area of my life, it starts to subtly bleed into other areas as well. When we are in a negative state or holding a grudge against someone, we don’t feel very good. We carry that energy with us as we go about our day. When we don’t feel very good, we lose sight of clarity and may react unconsciously to matters in other areas of our lives, unnecessarily.
Freedom of Speech - People are as entitled to their opinions as you are. Allow them to express how they feel and let it be. Remember that it’s all relative and a matter of perspective. What we consider positive can be perceived by another as negative. When we react, it becomes me-versus-you, who is right? Some people may have a less than eloquent way of expressing themselves - it may even be offensive, but they are still entitled to do so. They have the right to express their own opinions and we have the right and will power to choose our responses. We can choose peace or we can choose conflict.

Just a Swingin'...

Have you ever wanted to go outside & just sit on the porch swing & just swing & swing away while you enjoy the fresh air & the breeze?!... Well Steve & I went to swing & did just that (for a few minutes at least).

I could have stayed for a while but we had to get back to reality!!! So life goes on...

Charlie...

Here is an adorable picture of Charile outside. He's definitely Steve's buddy. He likes to go for rides in the car, hang out at the barn, play with his toys & beg for treats. I think he is definitely part Chihuahua & part pug... look at his cute little face! Isn't that a face that you could easily fall in love with?!

Much Better...

I took Steve to the clinic last night & the Doctor diagnosed him with Gastritis & IBS. He's feeling much better today & back to the laughs. Thanks for the prayers!

Things are going to be much better at my house after tomorrow. Nick is coming to 'properly' bury my sewer line & do a few things around our place. He is going to bury it where we originally wanted Scott to bury it when he ran the line. Oh well - I guess I should consider the source huh?!

Feeling Sick...

Please say a prayer for Steve. He has been sick with stomach stuff, fever/chills, etc. since Monday night. I'm taking him to the clinic this evening to see if they can help him. He says he feels miserable. At one point he said the pigs were killing him (you have to know Steve to know he has a HUGE sense of humor). Thanks for the prayers!

Friday?!...

I can't believe the whole week is gone! Can you believe it's Friday?! Where has the week gone? I think I have worked nonstop - most of the week at least. Wednesday, a cleaning angel swept through my house. Wednesday & Thursday, I was consumed with taking care of personal business while trying to work too. It looks like Friday is bringing showers for the next few days. I have to work Saturday (but not early - thank goodness!. Then, we have Bible Study Saturday evening. But at some point, I need to put my shoes away this weekend. Have a GREAT Weekend!

This Tax Season...

Here are just a few of the cases that we had to deal with this tax season...

1) A lady invested in an alpaca with her daughter so she wanted to claim it on her taxes. However, the animal lives with her daughter way up in another state. This is fine & she has feed & boarding expenses of about $150, plus 1/2 of the purchase of the alpaca to claim ($2500). So she had to file a schedule F for Farm expenses, but now she has to file the schedule F each year until she sells the animal to keep her farm expenses going on her taxes. Did I mention she has to pay extra for us to do a schedule F each year?

2) An old client walked in to get his taxes done & was unable to find us last year so he was stuck going to the 'Big Box' that most of us came from. Well, the lady there threw a temper tantrum about him claiming his farm expenses again & said he couldn't keep claiming a loss. She didn't put any of it on his 2007 taxes AND he had depreciation carry forwards. In the end, we filed an extension for his 2008 taxes so we can amend his 2007 & have the proper carry forwards.

3) A guy had some investments & received a 1099 on them. His 1099 amounts did not add up to the summary they mailed with it. Not only that, there is a fee for taking money out & they not only taxed him on it but taxed him twice.

4) A business owner walks in to get his taxes done a less than a week before the deadline & after inputting almost all of his stuff, he spills the beans that he's an owner of a corporation. We can't file his personal income taxes without the tax information from his business because it generates a K-1 to report on his personal taxes. The real kicker is when I was working on his extension & I called him to ask a few questions & he told me he wasn't trying to be a jerk & appreciated our help, but was fixing to play golf & that was all he had on his mind.

5) On top of tax season, we have these pesty foreign clients that are ridiculous & want us to do our book work 2 & 3 x's because they can't get it together. Well the guy comes over & starts demanding stuff with clients sitting everywhere & is unreasonable in the office. I asked him to leave but in the end - it didn't work.

6) Lots of people coming to do their taxes this season were not just bringing one year of tax data, some were bringing 2 & 3 year's that needed to be filed. One guy came in & signed 2003-2008 paperwork.

7) There were lots of cases of people selling stocks & bonds or taking money out of their retirement or investments due to the hard times.

8) In the end, we filed at least 12 extensions for people running in at the last minute with complicated returns or without all of their info together.

Tax Season is OVER...

Now that tax season is over, I may have a chance at a normal life for just a small bit. I have worked 10-12+ hour days for a couple of weeks in a row. In the end, I think we filed about 12+ extensions of people that came in with complicated returns over the past couple of weeks. I am so glad to get some rest & start a normal schedule again. However, we have lots of book work to catch up on now that tax season is over.

Also, my grandfather passed away on Wednesday AM. He was sick for a bit & was in the hospital. They did not give him proper care & my dad was unable to get him transferred back to the VA for them to care for him. We are having a private memorial for him on Friday in Killeen at the Veterans Cemetery.

Here's Lookin' at You...

Steve is always full of smiles & always trying to make me laugh. He should have been a comedian because he's nonstop laughs & jokes. I'm so happy God has given me a positive, fun & caring person in my life.

God has blessed me so much over this past year! I thank God for my friends, family, jobs & for bringing Steve into my life.

Busy, Busy...

We are very busy at the Music Co. working on getting out royalty statements & payments. I printed the labels today & started stuffing envelopes. We had gone over & over our payable's list last week finding & fixing errors, updating the mailing list & printing statements. They only pay out royalties twice a year, so this is a big job when it is done.

There is just over two weeks left of the tax season, so we are beginning to get busy at Go Figure! with last minute people. I will probably be working late each day to get things done. Today, I addressed postcards of people that had not been in to do their taxes yet. It's frustrating because some of the people are complicated & will require more work than others.

Vision from God?...

I was awakened by a very startling dream last night. I was getting ready for church & trying to get there on time. I was arguing with this dark headed guy to get out of bed & get ready for us to get to church Sunday AM. Then, it was like God showed me - you don't have to deal with that anymore. But the enemy was trying to discourage me again & I saw an even different man not wanting to go to church & seeking things of the world. In the dream I was crying out to God, no - I want a Godly man. I was so startled that I shook & it was like God shined a bright light & opened my eyes and showed me Steve. There was a peace from God & a vision of us standing in church worshiping God together. It was like we were standing in awe in the presence of God & sharing the experience together. My heart was calmed & I was able to sleep peacefully again.

Who is he?...

Well someone special has captured my heart. His name is Steve and he is originally from Arizona. He has only been in Texas about 2 years & came to Austin this year. This is a pic of him just being himself & loving life! He is funny (entertaining!), very down to earth, loves animals, thinks my dad hung the moon, very sincere & caring! He's positive, always smiling & willing to help others - even a stranger. He also has been to every church service with me & LOVES God & church. He prays, reads his Bible & worships at church.

Saying Goodbye...

This morning Benji was hit by a car out in front of our driveway, almost on our drive. He had been going across the street to visit the neighbor's dog lately and I guess that was what he was doing this AM. We are very saddened by the loss of our dear friend. Benji was probably the coolest dog we have ever had. He would go to Mom & Dad's & stay while I was at work. He usually stayed in my Mom's bedroom with her all day & would go to the barn with my Dad when he would go to feed. Steve buried Benji near the spot he liked to lay at the barn.

A little later, Steve & I went to town to drive around & see things. We went for a nice walk on the riverwalk along the Colorado River & watched the ducks swim as the sun was setting. We hung out & watched a movie later.

Wednesday Already...

I just thought I would share a quick note with you. Nick & I didn't make it to work yesterday AM (well he didn't go at all). I did make it to Go Figure in the afternoon. The pipe repair is still good. We left the hole uncovered just in case there was a situation again. I'm hoping to get more done today. I did go home & clean a little on my house but then I was hot & tired... LOL. So I turned on the a/c & sat down to rest.

Another Good Deed...

Monday afternoon we had a water line burst. It was the connection where Scott tied into my parent's water coming into the house. He had probably cut the line too short & had it in a bind so it gave. My mom had been wondering why the water bill had been so high & now we think it might have been leaking all along but burst after all the rain. I tried to call my friend that is the plumber but he was unavailable until the next morning. Well this meant we had NO water! But my dad buys plenty of bottled water so we figured we would be ok for one night (no shower - yuk! but I've lived in worse during floods & hurricanes back home). So over an hour or more like two or so went by & I was thinking about what to do because my parents were upset & my dad was really sweating it. It hit me... call Nick! He's always been the bestest friend ever. Sure enough - he came after work (tired but ready to work). We were outside until 1AM fixing the line... but it's fixed. Thanks again to Nick!

Catch Up...

Wow ~ It's been a busy week! I was gone a couple of days last week to the Ladies Conference in Sugar Land & was wiped out when I got home. We have been working on an audit for 2 months at work for a business that has suspicion of theft & sloppy bookkeeping. We FINALLY finished it yesterday & my boss was supposed to be at the Board Meeting last night & missed it trying to get everything together. She went to drop off the information anyway to get it out of our hair. There was SO much work go into the audit b/c we would start working on one part, find an error, go to track down the error & find another one in the process. It was amazing how much of a mess it all was. I'm trying to get back on track now & get things done. I need a cleaning angel to sweep through my house too. =) I've been gone so much that it's been neglected. I didn't leave work until 8PM last night & have to be back at the office at 9AM today. Hopefully I will be able to do a little each day to get things done.

Worries...

I hope you are having a blessed week. Mine started out bumpy & I wasn't feeling very friendly towards others, but I'm doing better. God is so AWESOME & takes good care of us... I had to share this with you from my Bible reading.

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today."

With God ALL things are possible! He's a gracious & wonderful God... have a great rest of the week.

Alum Creek Fire...

This is an on the scene report from my friend Lenel, who is with the Smithville Fire Department.

I can’t tell you how horrible it was and still is. This fire reminded me of a disaster movie. I didn't have any business trying to help at that fire because I haven't fought a fire in about a year. I'm still part of the dept. and do alot with them, but not actual fires. We had no idea how bad this "brush" fire was going to be, but when we drove up Cottletown Rd., I knew I was in way over my head.

Of course, just about everyone in Smithville knows at least one person who lost a home or business – 28 homes, 12 businesses and more than 1,500 acres. It was tough to see all the devastation on Sunday when we were driving all over the place putting out hot spots. Saturday the smoke was so thick you couldn’t see anything, but Sunday the devastation was clear. We worked on it from 7:30AM ‘til 8:30PM Sunday. I didn’t get emotional until Monday morning when I had to drive thru it (Hwy. 71) on the way to work. The exec. vice pres. of the bank called me about an hour after I got to work and told me to take the day off and rest. That was so thoughtful. I went home and slept for about three hours. At least 20 volunteer fire departments came in to help and the incident command center was set up in a field next to Duke's Convenience Store. It was a beehive of activity thru yesterday. This morning, passing it on the way to work, I saw that most of the TV trucks and people are now gone, but there are still a few people manning the mobile command center.

The response and support of the community was overwhelming. Citizens started showing up at the Smithville Fire Station Saturday afternoon and just took it over while we were all gone. They set up a command center there and started getting water and food from all the local businesses, making sandwiches for all the firefighters, etc. They brought coolers of ice and water, candy bars and sandwiches to everyone. They stayed at the station all night answering phone calls from worried family members of firefighters and victims. They were wonderful. Every day our Chamber of Commerce gets call after call from people wanting to donate money, furniture, clothing, food, etc. to the victims that were left with nothing. And, I have to say that of all the homes I saw that were burned, I did not see a single home that was only partially burned. It was either all or nothing in every instance.

Encouragement...

We all have an online friend that we have never met in person but email & talk to on the phone once in a while. Well, my online friend was going through a really hard time this week and talked to me a lot. After spending time talking this week, my online friend had some very strong words of encouragement for me and I just had to share them with you too... Even though the storm seems long & hard now, there is great things in store for you because you are a terrific lady. God has someone very special for you & you just need to ride out this storm. Why we go through rough times & have to go through bad storms, God only knows. You are a really special lady, with a really big heart!

Now why does it take someone that we only somewhat know to encourage us?! Where are our friends during the good times?... they seem to want to pop up during the bad times but where are they when things are just rocking along?! Do we really encourage each other enough in our day to day walk?

Lazy Day...

It's another Saturday & lots to get done, especially since I'm leaving town on Thursday. I'm leaving Thursday to go to Sugarland for Ladies Conference with a bunch of my girlfriends & other church ladies. We always have so much fun & it is always so good between the music & the special speakers.

Fat Tuesday...

I went home early because I was not feeling well. I slept about 4 hours straight & when I woke up, my mom text'd me to tell me that IHOP was serving free pancakes to celebrate Fat Tuesday & the beginning of lent. I messaged back - let's go! She said, really? So to make a long story short - we went to Austin (about 15-20 mins from home) and had pancakes. It was a blast & they were good! So what did you do on Fat Tuesday?

Was It ALL for Nothing?!...

First of all, let me say ~ this is for Josh (one of my adopted sons)... it is also a little for myself & maybe you too. We all go through things in life & wonder WHY? Why me God? Why did I have to endure that? We even wish it was just a dream & hope to wake up & go back to the way it was before, but it doesn't & we move on. We make the best of it & learn from the experience & grow stronger! God doesn't wish harm upon us but sometimes He yanks us up by the seat of our pants to get our attention so learn from it & keep your hunger. But most of all, I hope you dance!!!

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance

Music Company...

Here is a picture of the office at the music publishing company I work at in the town where I live (Cedar Creek). It is in the people's home & this is a picture of a few of the awards they have on the walls. Some of the famous artists that they have published songs for include: BB King, Huey Lewis & the News, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Nicks, Billy Idol, Asleep at the Wheel, Tower of Power and even Willie Nelson. One of their latest groups is a Christian Rock Band named Life in Rescue from San Antonio, TX.

It is very casual & laid back there. I could almost go dressed in my pj's & fit in. =) Next week I will be working 4 more hours a week so I will be working Monday, Tuesday & Thursdays 1/2 a day.

SELF...

Do you ever get frustrated with your friends? Especially that special one?! Well my 'self' got in the way with my friend & now I have to say I'm Sorry. =( I love all my friends & appreciate them being there for me.

When your friends are going through things, sometimes you don't know b/c they don't say much (unlike me!!!). When you don't talk to them as much or hang out with them as much - it might be b/c they are going through something. It may not be b/c they don't want to be with you or talk to you - even though your 'self' will tell you otherwise. You should just pray for them & encourage them. =)

MIA??? (missing in action)...

I'm sure you are wondering where I have been. Well let me tell you - I've been working & working... nonstop! I love my new job but it's just sitting at the computer inputting accounts receivables. There is some fancy math involved & conversion of $'s (nothing hard). I've been working 10 hour days & now - my boss is gone until Tuesday at Go Figure! so I'm trying to hold down the fort.

We also have been having a prayer revival at church this week so I've been going there every evening straight from work, except Tuesday night. They cancelled it due to the weather. It was pretty cold & mildly sleeting here. So that is my big news of the week! What is your news?

New Year's Resolution?...

I saw this picture the day after I picked up McDonald's for dinner. You may have seen it before but if not, it's titled - McDonalds reaches Africa. It made me feel yucky after eating it for dinner. I guess I should do like others - stay away from McDonald's this year (I'm not sure about ALL fatty foods... LOL, because I think that would mean no mexican food). With this being a New Year's resolution, I think it would probably help all of us lose weight.

The New Job...

I went to 'interview' for the data entry job on Monday afternoon. It is a Music Publishing Company in Bastrop County. They publish the songs & then pay out royalties to the song writers. I input where they are paid from the various sources like record companies, production companies (if song was used in a movie or television show), etc. They have lots of dogs & other animals. They raise alpacas on the side. They are adorable! They shear them once a year - on April 15th to sell their hair for yarn.

Well I started the job this AM. It will be about 15 hours a week after I get trained & get going. I did so well this AM that they couldn't believe how much I got done. I go back on Thursday AM & will be working Tues & Thur AM this week while I am training. It is actually a little more than just data entry. It is basically entering their accounts receivables. Besides the computer, I have to use the trusty 10-key... LOL.

What is Church For?...

Yesterday was a hard day for me. I would say that about once a week I break down & cry & then I go on & have a great day or week. It's not that I'm walking around all gloomy b/c I'm not. It's that it hits me all at once & things are just overwhelming. Hey - look at everything I have been through in the last year (before you judge me, try walking in my shoes for a couple of days!). Most people would have quit going to church or given up & gone off the deep end.

I was feeling really down yesterday & had a small crying spell before church. I figured I would be ok & would get encouraged at church - what else is church for?! I get there about 20-30 minutes late but go on in & sit down. Right off the bat, a sister makes a comment to me & knocks me down. Well, I couldn't stop the tears... they just flowed all through the rest of Sunday School. You just have to understand that we are just human & we are not perfect, just forgiven.

I was still overwhelmed when we started singing. Sometimes when people are in this situation, you have to let them cry it out & just be there for them & pray for them. But quickly, I was knocked down again. This time - it hit me hard & made me upset. So this is why I ask, what is church for? I was taught that church is for encouragement & for us to lift each other up. I think that at times - church can be the worst place to receive encouragement b/c as Christians, we tear each other down instead of lifting each other up. So sometimes you just have to smile, pretend like everything is okay, hold back the tears and just walk away. Therefore, no matter what you just have to realize that God is there for you & will help you through no matter what... and no matter what man does to you.

Church Dog...

This is the cutest story you will probably read on my blog. Benji (my dog) rode w/my dad to take my mom to church. When they got there, he jumped out like ok, we're here. He went up to the door to go in & just sat there like come on let's go. My dad was calling him & saying Benji - get over here! He came back & was loving on my mom. He was disappointed in the end that he wasn't allowed to stay & go in. He figured he missed out on something.

Another Job...

The lady that rents a space at Go Figure! gave me a lead on another part-time job. All I know at this time is that it will be at the people's home & they are a music publishing company. It is accounting & other type work and pays really well. It will be about 8-12 hours a week. They are very close to my house. No matter where my life goes, I will still be able to do this other part-time job. I go Monday afternoon to talk to them.

Quote of the Week...

God doesn't give you the people you want, He gives you the people you NEED - To help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you and to make you into the person you were meant to be.

Help from Lil Bro...

I had been needing alot of help to get a few things done around my house. Nick came & spent most of the day with me doing little things that were a BIG help to me. He hung the ceiling fan in my bedroom, which will really help with air flow since I leave my windows open on occasion (savings on light bill). He rehung the shelves in my closet since they were too close together on one side, didn't have enough support on the other AND added an extra shelf up high (this was my biggest issue). He mounted my can opener under the cabinet & hung a light fixture in my bathroom. He also put light bulbs in the hallway fixture, which was way too high for me to reach. It was a total blessing to me! We had fun & then went to the Chinese Buffet.

Job Situation...

The lady at the plant sent me a text on Monday that she wanted me to work on Wed, Thur, Fri & Mon just to cover them while they were gone to market. I didn't feel obligated to do it with Kathy (boss @ my 2nd job) being so good to me & helping me through this tough time. There was NO guarantee that they would need me after Monday so I would have had to go back up there to take the key, etc if there was no more work for me. Plus not to mention that the office manager there is a bully & pushes everyone around and no one can do anything right.

My Birthday...

Sorry this is late...
Yes, it was a GREAT birthday! My parents took me to dinner on Saturday night & got me some goodies. It was very cold & windy that night. Then, I went to church on Sunday. What better way to celebrate my special day than in God's House?! I was surprised with a special event by my 'bestest' friend Gail. Gail took me to eat at Olive Garden (just the 2 of us!). She also made me a beautiful grapevine wreath with my favorite flower, pansies. Thank you to everyone that sent me emails, cards & wished me a great day! I love all of you & pray God blesses you so much.

Another Blustery Day...

The wind is whipping & making it cold again. It was beautiful outside but unpleasant due to the wind. It felt like a Winnie the Pooh Day. I did very little this AM before getting ready to take my mom to Go Figure. The IRS opens on 1/16 so we will be getting busy this next week. I started cleaning this afternoon but have lots more to do! My parents took me to dinner ~ Chinese buffet & gave me lots of little goodies. I was hoping to get to do something with a friend today but it didn't work out. I get to go to my favorite place for my big day ~ church, so it will be a good day! Stay warm & keep in touch.

Too Much Drama...

Katie text'd me this evening & said that she just had surgery. She had to have her gall bladder removed & is worried about doing better since the baby will be coming soon. Then, Gail's son was taken to the ER due to a seizure. We spent about 4 hours at the ER.

Great News...

My mom got word today that she may be getting a promotion (please pray for this!). They are rewriting her job description & might be giving her different duties b/c the VP of her division realized they were under utilizing her talents. Her job is ok after her 90 day trial basis. Remember they just let her come back to work on a trial basis after her disability ended. Well, once again God is working!

Job Search...

I filed my first unemployment claim today. I think I would make more $'s on social security or welfare. I'm just thankful that I'm getting something. I have been viewing jobs but don't see anything that seems to be fitting. There are quite a few jobs listed but they are specific in certain fields. I know God has a job for me & has a plan for me. I'm just having to leave it in His hands to guide me & make a way for me a new job. I'm faxing my resume tomorrow for an accounting job that was in the local paper a few weeks ago. I do have a few resumes out & am praying for follow up calls.

New Year's...

I had a wonderful New Year's Eve... I got to talk to an old friend that brought new light to my life. It's amazing how people can make you look at things differently in life! I am SO blessed & thankful for all of my great friends & most of all my Mom & Dad. It's been hard at times to be 'normal' (what is normal?) but my Mom & Dad have stood by me & helped me by cheering me up or just being there for me. I love you Mom & Dad SO much! I thank God for you.

After church I went to my boss' house, Kathy, and had a blast. I didn't get home until 4:30 AM. I have to say that I slept off & on New Year's Day. I think my phone rang & rang but not sure who was calling b/c the caller ID is only working on one of my phones & it was dead (guess I should fix that).

Happy New Year to all! I hope that this year will be much better than last year for you & may God richly bless you in 2009.
